Developing Design Idea Three

(Click on an image to enlarge it, then click the back arrow)
We made a lot of progress in the session when we developed this design idea, we decided to concentrate solely on the creation of the magazine cover for a few lessons. We first added in our main image so that we could work around this in terms of colour and exact positioning of all the text. We chose to have an image using direct mode of address as this links in with our trailer and poster, the same character is looking directly at the audience in all three, it also makes the audience feel more involved.

Here we had received feedback from our questionnaire on the magazine title so were able to add this. We looked at our research and thought that the colour scheme of the 'Fangoria' magazine was effective and would appeal to our target audience however we wanted to make sure so we created a questionnaire and asked 20 people ''Which of these colour schemes do you think would be best suited to a film magazine advertising a horror film?''. The results showed that 16 of the 20 people asked prefered the first colour scheme which was the same as 'Fangoria'. Therefore we made our masthead red as seen in our research and thought this looked the way we wanted it to and so did not really experiment with this, we then made the coverlines and part of the strapline yellow.

  1. The image here works well because it uses direct mode of address to really interact with the audience and intensifys the ambience. Although I do think that it needs more writing down the side to link it in with the planning. Also it needs to follow the audiences expectations of a film magazine so needs a date and price.
